Basic Troubleshooting (Apple iPhone iOS)

The first steps for troubleshooting basic issues within the EvalExpert App on Apple iPhone OS

1. Restart your iPhone

Follow the steps to restart your device.

How to restart

 Restart your iPhone X or later

  1. Press and hold the Side button and either volume button until the power off slider appears.

  2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.*

  3. After your device turns off, press and hold the Side button again until you see the Apple logo.

Restart your iPhone 8 or earlier

  1. Press and hold the Top (or Side) button until the power off slider appears.

  2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.*

  3. After your device turns off, press and hold the Top (or Side) button again until you see the Apple logo.

NOTE: With iOS 11 or later, you can turn off your device by going to Settings > General > Shut Down.

2. Force Close the EvalExpert App

Force close the app

  1. On an iPhone X or later or an iPad with iOS 12, from the Home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen. On an iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps

  2. Swipe right or left to find the EvalExpert app.

  3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app. 

3. Update iOS

Update your device wirelessly

If a message says that an update is available, tap Install Now. You can also follow these steps: 

  1. Plug your device into power and connect to the Internet with Wi-Fi.

  2. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.

  3. Tap Download and Install. If a message asks to temporarily remove apps because iOS needs more space for the update, tap Continue or Cancel. Later, iOS will reinstall apps that it removed. If you tap Cancel, learn what to do next.

  4. To update now, tap Install. Or you can tap Later and choose Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. If you tap Install Tonight, just plug your iOS device into power before you go to sleep. Your device will update automatically overnight.

  5. If asked, enter your passcode. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

4. Update EvalExpert App

  1. From the Home screen, tap App Store.

  2. Tap Updates (lower-right). If an app update is available, a number may be present.

  3. If an update is available for the EvalExpert App it will display in the list, tap Update.

  4. If prompted, enter the Apple ID and password then tap OK.

5. Remove & Reinstall the EvalExpert App

Delete the app

  1. Lightly touch and hold the app until it jiggles.

  2. Tap  in the upper-left corner of the app.

  3. Tap Delete. Then on an iPhone X or later, tap Done. Or on an iPhone 8 or earlier, press the Home button. 

If you press too firmly on an app, you might open the app's Quick Actions menu. Tap outside of the Quick Actions list, then lightly touch and hold the app to try again.

If your iPhone supports 3D Touch, you might open the Share menu if you press the app too firmly. Tap outside of the Share menu, then lightly touch and hold the app to try again.

Re-download the app

  1. Open the App Store app, then tap Today at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Tap the "Person" icon or your photo in the upper-right corner, then tap Purchased. (If you use Family Sharing, tap My Purchases)

  3. Tap "Not on this iPhone (Device)."

  4. Find the EvalExpert app then tap the "Cloud with Arrow" icon. The app now downloads to your device.
